Although it might not be obvious, optimization solutions are everywhere, and they help organizations save money and make people’s life easier. Target is the second largest supermarket in U.S. with more than 1800 stores and dozens of distribution centers. This talk gives a brief overview of an end-to-end assortment optimization solution and the skills/knowledge involved in the development. This optimization solution helped Target save 1.5 million dollars in its last-mile supply chain operation during the 2018 holiday season.

报告人简介：

Dr. Peng is the co-founder of MicroIGT Co., Ltd. (杭州微引科技有限公司) based in Hangzhou. MicroIGT is a high-tech start-up company that develops image guided therapy (IGT) platforms, including both AI-driven surgery assistance software and hardware such as percutaneous surgery robots. Dr. Peng received his Ph.D. and master’s degree in industrial engineering from Arizona State University, and bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He has helped companies develop end-to-end optimization solutions in various industrial settings like wafer fabrication, call center operation, retail supply chain, and labor force planning, etc. Optimization modeling is Dr. Peng’s life-time passion. With the expertise in operations research, stochastic processes, machine learning, big data analytics, and software engineering, he is devoted to reducing the adoption cost of optimization solutions across the industry.
